The action of the verb is ‘transferred’ to the noun or subject, where passive sentences are concerned. As compared to active sentences, where the subject or the noun is actually performing the action described by the verb. But again, in both these cases the meaning of a sentence always remains the same, the point of view or observation changes.
In Italian, the passive voice is addressed by adding “essere” to the subject, along with a past participle, the word “da” and an agent. To summarize, you can use the following to express in passive voice:
Subject + “essere” + past participle + “da” + Agent”
E.g. analyze the following sentence,
‘Questa lettera e stata scritta da Paolo’ which translates to “The letter was written by Paul”
If a verb in any sentence is conjugated with ‘essere’ then the past participle would have a plural form.
